  • The Fake People of Instagram - Part 2 - REACTION
Hey ya'll! Today on my channel we are reacting to some fake people found on instagram! Most of these come from the instagram vs reality Subreddit, which is a lot of fun to look at! Do you think these people are using photoshop or facetune?
Hi, I'm Charlotte. I'm an actor, reactor, singer and sometimes (not really) comedian. On this channel I do reactions, commentary and occasionally I crack a joke or two. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. Come hang out, it's a good time.

In the UK they're passing a law that says the media and influencers have to declare when a photo of someone's been edited

    • Rhason Whitehurst
      Rhason Whitehurst Il y a 3 jours

That shit is corny!!! Like why does it even matter if they edited their pic or not? Nobodies fucking business. They need to pass a law to where it’s illegal to pay attention to others bodies and what they choose to do with it!! Rather it’s in a pic or real life.

I’ve never heard this and I’m from the UK, but I would 100% support this.
We already know it’s affecting lots of people’s mental health and self esteem, particularly vulnerable people, so they need to nip it in the bud before we damage another generation of people

This seems kinda silly. Are they going to enforce it? How? Prosecute? This is the kind of law that just fills up the books.

@ZomBQueeen ...Hairy armpits is just part of it. Hair, unless on the head, is a no-no for women now. Hairy legs, hairy forearms, hairy toes, hairy pubic hair, moustaches, those wild bits of hair that stick out of the just goes on and on. What a business. I sympathise.

    • ZomBQueeen

Because it has became a beauty standard so deviation creates a response that’s not always nice. Even though intellectually we all understand hair is there, kinda doesn’t change the emotional response.
To act like it’s not a reality is silly.

I was suuuch an extremely glam and put together person. Major makeup, nails, the shoes and clothes etc. This summer I was isolating and decided to venture into the self love realm. I stopped shaving, wearing make up, nothing glam and it was the best decision of my life. I felt more feminine than I ever had before. I accept my body and have in turn accepted others more as well. I don’t feel gross if I don’t shave everyday or go out with no make up. I hope you don’t let losers knock you down Charlotte. You are so beautiful, even with armpit hair.

I like the idea of influencers being legally obligated to declare if a photo has been edited. The over-the-top ones where people look like aliens don't bother me as much (they're just whacky), I get more upset by ones that pass as real and then people think that's how they're actually supposed to look because you can't tell it's altered.

“You’re smart, you can figure it out.” Us adults can. We can spot the difference. The problem is that teens, who are the biggest users of these apps, can’t. They haven’t got the life experience yet to do so. So they grow up thinking that these bodies are normal and aspirational - hence the explosion of mental health issues and eating disorders in young people now.

I've struggled with anorexia since I was 5 (I'm 28 now) and one of my biggest fears is that my future child/children will developed an eating disorder (or ANY other mental illness) as a result of social media etc. I can't imagine going through what my parents had to go through with me having three heart stops, force fed, put into medical induced coma because of organ failure (and severely underweight) etc. It completely ruins me just thinking about that. Knowing the pain it makes me incredibly sad knowing that so many YA, teens and children watch this stuff and criticizing themself for not looking like the photoshopped person.

It’s freaky!! I work as a dancer and I’ve seen lots of lipo and bbls. The lipod belly’s are very creepy looking just pure thin skin like on the back of ur hand or like cardi b looking stomach. I used to hate my belly fat when I was younger (late 90’s up til 2015ish) but the more I saw lipo stomachs the more I’ve come to appreciate my little belly fat cuz it makes me feel more authentic and something very feminine about it to me. I think it makes someone look healthier.

When I was in photography school back in 2001-2003, learning Photoshop 7 (in the olden times), I started seeing how Photoshop was used everywhere! And it was rather frustrating as a young woman. For example, seeing Victoria Secret models in swim suits with shadows where the sun would NOT naturally cast a shadow just to make their breasts look bigger was an eye opener for the amount of unrealistic body expectations women are subjected to. I even modeled a little in high school, but I had no idea how much retouching went on. Human nature is literally being edited away in photos. I'm glad to see marketing campaigns these days that show the truth of real human bodies.

Truth be told, I also edit my photos before posting them on IG. bc I have been always told that you need to look a certain way to be called beautiful. but nobody tells us that beautiful skin has textures, pores and scars and all of those are not ugly but just a proof that it is real, and real should be the beauty we are looking for. I am really thankful to the YT algorithm to introducing me to you. And if not completely then at least a little, day by day I am learning the real definition of beauty and all that the internet markets is mostly just them feeding off our insecurities. Hey 18. Midhuna Nair - I have also been binging on Charlotte's videos because they made me laugh so hard during a time when I thought I would never smile again. I think she's awesome and I'm glad she had the same effect on you. Gosh, that girl could do literally ANYTHING and I'd laugh. Whatever it is you're going through, you're not alone. My prescription for you is to keep watching Charlotte's videos. Sending you love and comfort.

We have been enjoying your videos - so much so that they have become our new "tv". One of the things I love is probably one of the most trivial things you have ever heard - but PLEASE can you tell me the colour and make of your lipstick?!!!! It suits you so perfectly!

I am certain that other pic was from when she was a lot younger. Even people in hollywood do not 'photoshop' That well. although it most likely was airbrushed and messed with as it appears it is an add, or production photo of some sort. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Just seen the 3rd installment and saw you got in a spot of bother with this one. How in gods name could you get in trouble?? Clearly it's your opinion and an educated opinion at that. This is why I'm not keen on social media as people can't have a sensible opinion without getting jumped on! When I got married, I had a 13 inch waist. I didn’t do anything special, that’s just how I was built. After two single babies and one set of twins, I’ll never see that waistline again nut, it was all natural back then.

The shots where they have trimmed off half of their waist is medically impossible. There would not be room for your digestive track and internal organs so you'd be either dead or on a feeding tube in a hospital and using a colostomy bag to get rid of your waist. Did I mention you'd be almost dead, not posting pictures on Instagram!

@MultiFandom HamHam Who decides what is a 'flaw' and what isn't? An aesthetic 'flaw' is a judgement based on the views of a country, culture and time, and the beauty industry. What you consider 'flaws' may be lovable attributes that identify you as you, and not a shop mannequin. :)

Same. lol I would rather have flaws than none at all. Besides, I don't think I look too bad. I wouldn't want to do edits on my pics, cause I feel like I don't need them and most edits look scary and inhuman. Like, people actually edit their waists to look smaller than their necks and shoulders. That just ain't right and looks almost alien.

I wouldn't mind all the dumb photoshopping if it wasn't always portrayed as reality. If you want to photoshop you photos then fair shout, you do you, but don't use it to influence people. Folks have enough mental and emotional shit to deal with living in the real world without being bombarded with fake images of these "perfect people". Most adults can see through it but teenagers and kids get really messed up by this sort of thing. I agree with you on the legal declaration idea.

This actually makes me really sad. Specifically women (men too though) feel like they have to meet this truly impossible and frankly unhealthy shape and look. I don’t think it’s laughable I think it sad because I’ve suffered from eating and body problems and still do. I hate that we live in a world where people will literally die trying to reach an impossible look and still use photoshop when they are gorgeous the way they are. I hate this world and what it’s come to. People 9-90 doesn’t matter will constantly do things to morph their body’s.
