@Purpurina Right place, right time. I don't think I've ever been with a man (depending on their cultural background) longer than 6 months and had marriage not be brought up. If you meet a guy who wants to get married and have kids and you stick around long enough, eventually they'll ask. It's really that simple.
If you've dated someone for two years and the subject hasn't even been brought up once, and when you do, they give you the run around (not ready yet, haven't really thought about it etc.), dump them. They either have no interest in marriage for now (which could mean 2 years or 10 years) or they have no interest in marrying you. Either way, it's a waste of your time.
      Good Luck.

    Got married 35 years ago.
Wife got a $45 pawn shop wedding set and has always cherished them.
Our wedding was low dollar and great fun. Home made decorations and dresses.
    Pot luck reception,
    No honeymoon,
    3 years ago i noticed
Her rings were about worn through,
I got her a new set that she picked out, $800
She's an amazing woman and has been the glue that keeps our family strong !

I got married in 2008, engaged at universal City Walk, Hollywood (city walk is free admission.)
My husband saw some cheap jewelry and asked if I'd marry him with a $8 ring, I got him a $20 engagement ring. When we got married we remembered a couple days before the wedding that we needed a wedding set, got a Walmart set for me at Walmart for $180. We did almost everything for our wedding ourselves and with help for a friend. 32 people, not too many issues, only spent about $3-$4,000, cake was most expensive item, $350, my dress was $160.
Worked until the day before our wedding, made all the decorations and got all the food from Costco (except the cake), cooled it all the night before, warmed it up day of, I was up until 3am finishing setting things up and finishing making my veil and the arch had to get up at 7 to go pick up my brides made 90 mins away (each way) and she refused to come unless we could run some errands first for her & her baby & my other bridesmaid said she couldn't come 2 days before the wedding (only had 2 and no MOH). Hair, makeup & camera man both no call no show, we had it at friends house, I had to yell down to start the music since the flower girl was to shy to go down and tell them to turn on the CD my husband burned the night before. Wedding was set for 200pm, ended starting at 230pm, by 6 the gifts, cake and food was finished, we fell asleep by 8 taking the gifts up to the room we were renting, and the owner of the house took my brides maid home for me since we were both dead tired. Hung out with husband's dad and older sister the next 2 days (ment them day before the wedding) then we went back to work, no honeymoon, husband's wedding ring was $60 from pawn shop. My new wedding set was $450 from pawn shop and both the Walmart set and the pawn shop set the wedding ring broke.
Married 14 years and still together.

I hope you have taken your wife on a lovely holiday or two over the 35 years.
Not necessarily expensive… I had some friends who ‘honeymooned’ in their own area. They just went around doing things in the town, like going to art galleries and bowling and things like that. No contact with family or anyone else for the week, just them going out and then going back home at night.
That was probably nice for them. 😊

A gift someone gave us for our wedding was a handmade basket (made out of recycled wood paneling). They couldn’t afford anything else. We didn’t need a gift, we would have been happy for them to attend the wedding without one but they felt obligated to bring one. We still have that basket with pretty plants inside a clay pot inside the basket. That man who made the basket is dead now but I think about him when I see the basket. It was a very thoughtful gift.

The best gift is one given with love and care, no matter the occasion! I’d be happy if my hypothetical wedding guests brought my hypothetical partner and I something they’d made or a small thing they thought we’d like or need too. These videos kinda gives me the creeps… to think people like that exists. But I get curious and look all the same. ‘There’s people for everything and then some.’ Someone told me once and I haven’t forgotten it though I’m not sure who said it.

I used to work in a wedding dress shop and a bridesmaid once called to make an appointment for the bride to try on dresses. She asked if we served drinks and finger foods during the appointment. I said no. She asked how we make it special. I responded we make it special by helping the bride find her perfect dress. If you want food, go to a restaurant. If you want a wedding dress, go to a wedding dress shop. WTF

My mother-in-law still refuses to pay any of it back, and the loan has just increased in the last 35 years, without her ever paying anything back.
She keeps saying the bank "invested" money in their dream of having a bussiness, so it's the banks own fault, that it didn't work out for my in-laws to pay it back. Because they got bankrupt quick after opening.
When my in-laws divorced, it turns out my father-in-law had taken even more loans, without my mother-in-laws knowing, to keep up their appearances (golf, horses, exp. cars and clothing ect.) My father-in-law tried to keep that image till his dead, nut we all knew the real story.
My mother-in-law didn't learn anything either. At least her now husband, doesn't spend more money, than they have, and has grounded her more, so she doesn't either..

Girl, my friend I went to high school with had a low-key wedding, and the most they asked for was spending money for their honeymoon. Everyone decided to pitch in $50 (there was ~70 guests) and we sent them off with enough spending money for their honeymoon. They purchased every guest a small item from their honeymoon destination. It was super cute and super thoughtful.

You folks are the kind of thoughtful quality that make excellent examples for the rest of the world.
Kept their wedding within their means.
      Made a polite reasonable request.
Were met with generous extra effort.
Returned with memory makers for all.
I personally enjoy thinking of the newly married couple on their honeymoon having joyful loving fun deciding what to gift each person. I can feel their excitement over the idea, can feel their happiness as they chatter away visiting different shops. It isn't often I hear a story that includes 70 people joining a new couple on their honeymoon but soulfully speaking it's exactly what happened and I love it!
Would love to live in a town inhabited by such fabulous people.

Weddings do not have to cost thousands, or even hundreds. I got married during the pandemic and the whole thing cost less than £300. Including my wedding dress. It’s about marrying the person you love, not about showing off and making people buy you expensive gifts. People really need to get their life in perspective and calm down. Great video, but so frustrating to see how people are.

The best wedding I ever attended was my sister's. It was at our great aunt's trailer. Bride wore a lovely white sundress we found at the thrift store. I was her maid of honor and wore jeans and a filly tie dyed blouse. Groom wore jeans and a white button down. Best man was in jeans and a leather jacket over a Rolling Stones tee.
I led from the hallway of the trailer singing the intro to Led Zeppelin's 'Thank You'. Our mother had contributed huge bouquets of roses from her garden. Great aunt was an ordained minister so she officiated. She had also made a small cake. We had Cold Duck for cheers. There were only about a dozen people altogether. The couple's neighbors from the trailer park contributed a keg, burgers and sides for a cookout reception at the trailer park and a good time was had by all. Oh, yeah-they had turquoise and silver rings from the pawn shop.

Ain't nothing wrong with expensive weddings as long as it someone can afford it. But guys. I got Married last month. 150 guests. ~$5,000 for everything including my dress, food, and photographer. It was so beyond beautiful. Bare in mind, it was a dry wedding, so that also saved us tons of money. When you dig for it, you can save money and have a big wedding while staying in a reasonable budget.. So many friends and family gave up their time to help make the day gorgeous and I'm so so so thankful for them. Facebook marketplace is the way to go for decorations.
Also, for that bride wanting that "friend" discount for hair... I had a friend do my hair who lived 2 hours away. I went drove to HER so she could practice my hair, then made sure to pay her normal rate PLUS extra the day of the wedding since she had to drive. Take care of your people, yall. 😂😂

Where I am from, it is acceptable to bring some things for the home like cutlery, appliances, blankets, towels and such and they won't even bat an eye at what brand it is or how much it costs, heck you can pop in for an hour or so at the church and give your best regards then take some pics and leave. None of this extravagant wedding things. Yea, we know our country is not the best off but at least we have more common sense that these bridezillas. Me and my family showed on my 2nd cousin's wedding and we had a lot of fun, watched them step on each other's feet (a superstition to see who is going to be in charge), drink salted coffee (another one to test the love between them) and danced on the parking lot in front of their apartment building. Then the wedding of the church and the pictures. Even I got some pretty pictures and an armful of the candy they threw at the newly weds. It was epic and sweet. 👍

Over 40 years ago my wife and I got married. I come from a very small family and my guest list was well under 40 people in total. My wife comes from a very large family and her family guest list was somewhere in the range of 200 people. We had 50 guests who were friends to both of us. So our reception was planned for around 300 people including the band. So, we wanted a weddng at our church, pretty flowers,we wanted a reception at our favorite hall, to have our favorite band (Band was long time friends) and we wanted to serve a meal, cake, and offer free beer with a cash bar for stronger drinks. We shopped, we interviewed, and we budgeted as we didn't assume anyone would pay for our wedding.
In our first and only meeting about our wedding with my wifes father and mother they didn't ask to see what we had worked on or the cost, my father iin law simply said, where can we cut. I was a bit protective of my wife and wanted her to be happy on our wedding day and so I simply said we are going to cut nothing, it was already cut to the best of our ability. I walked away and we paid for the entire wedding except for one ked of beer. The band was usually $400. for three hours, but they played from 7 p.m. to after midnight and refused our check to them as their gift to us, how sweet! This wedding nearly broke us and we had to be careful in our first year together financially . I wouldn't change a thing and I am happy we did it our way.
I am totally unable to relate to the superficial, greedy, selfsh people in these video's. If you love someone and you want to spend the rest of your life together, you may need to plan or sacrifice, but ultimately you do your best and not put other people out so you can be a child.

Got married 3 years ago. We did it in my parents backyard, we had a bouncing castle, giant Jenga and a food truck. No photograph, just regular cameras everywhere. We didn't ask for gifts and the music was basically a radio with a Premium Spotify account (I know, fancy right?). You don't need money to get married, just fresh air and witnesses.

Wedding gifts were originally meant to help young couples build a home with the appliances and necessities (because people used to get married young, often without living apart from their parents first). If you already have all your household needs left, why TF does anybody need to buy you Gucci bags just because you decided to get married? what?

In Germany (at least that's true for the weddings I've attended here) the wedding gifts are mostly money and roughly total the wedding expenses of the couple. So the guests effectively pay for the wedding and a nice party they attend. I usually hate giving money presents, but in this case I think it's a good concept.

This really needs to be re-observed by people today. I got married in 2020. People were asking us for gift registrys on amazon and stuff. I felt bad because I really didn't want to except anything. I was pushing 30 with pretty much everything I needed already except a few minor things that were only a few paychecks away.. my parents got me an air fryer, my father in law bought us a queen bed, and a few people gave us cash. I felt bad even accepting that. Generosity isn't something to take advantage of. I can't imagine accepting 30K in donations for anything shy of a life-death medical emergency and I would still feel obligated to offer anything I could in return for so much help. it really bothers me we live in a society where panhandling on social media is becoming a normal thing to do.

Gift registries are so foreign to me, I didn’t know it’s a normal thing in the USA to have a list for guests to gift the married couple. The usual weddings I’ve been to (including my brother’s) we would just put a disclaimer of gifts and cash are welcome, but there is never a specific product or amount, coz tbh it’s kinda rude

Edward mainly uses Twitter to avoid Pam. He posts photos from tropical beaches with pretty girls in bikinis, photos of him biking to work wearing his helmet of course, and having drinks with the lads down the pub. His family and friends are very glad he moved on from Pam.

I'm getting married in Brazil after living with my fiance for 4 years and dating 7. We've got most of our home furnished by now, so we told people "no need for gifts, but if they'd like to contribute to our honeymoon funds, it's going to be amazing." A friend who's not even coming because he's living in Japan gave us a freaking huge expensive-ass couch and we were truly humbled. We chose the color, how comfy it was, etc. It wouldn't be so precious if we somehow forced him to give us something. Most people are simply not going to bring any gifts but their presence and that's perfectly fine. Weddings are awesome but superfluous and most people have better, bigger priorities. Just because we decided to marry doesn't mean someone has to spend tons of money on us.

Nobody was at the wedding, and nobody gave a dime, we did it all on our own and have been married since 1985 with one daughter age 30. You can do it for less than 150 dollars. It is legal and binding. Nobody is put out or asked to do a thing. The marriage will make it or won't. I am now 61 and hubby is 72 and we are very happy. We worked for every dime we got.

in some cultures (and the US is loosely a culture, very loosely indeed) having a big wedding is seen as a sign of social status.
Often the parents of bridge, groom, or both together will pay for it but more sensible parents will say "FU, you pay for it yourself if you want it".
My sister went the reverse, she didn't want to pay for a wedding at all so she snuck off with your fiancé and they got married in secret. First thing anyone heard about it was when we got post cards that had "just married" written on it with a sharpie.
Neither family was too pleased, to put it mildly. Both had been willing and capable of helping to pay for something that would at least involve family and close friends and my sister knew it.

@bexie1989 Well if you're Italian the family is probably huge- a lot of mouths to feed and people ti fit in. And there can be a lot of political turmoil if you don't invite Auntie Mary but invited Aunty Kate. But it's the extravagance sometimes that gets me. You can accommodate a lot of people without ice sculptures, a 10k dress and a five course five star restaurant menu

The 1st bride was beyond disrespectful. Geting $30k for the wedding, then cancel the wedding, and had the nerve to ask for more. Then when the family was angry she then played victim. She then told them to pay for her doctor bills, 3x times what she claimed the bill was? . I don''t know anything about her fiance but he should RUN as fast as he can.
All these brides have their priorities messed up. They have obviously never faced any real loss or trauma because they need real perspective on what truly matters.

Ahhh, I noticed number 5 on the wedding gift list didn't have a set dollar amount. Anything in relation to the car, you say? OK! Here's your tree shaped air freshener for the car! If I'm feeling generous, it might even be a 3 pack! 🤣 But seriously, if I RSVP'd for a wedding and recieved this message, I'd be canceling! It's not that I wouldn't spend money to help out family and friends, it's the way she's demanding that people spend at least $400! When my best friend had her baby shower, I bought the stroller, carrier and car seat set that she had on her list and that was just under $400. Plus I made a gift basket with some cute clothes, small toys to hang on the carrier, some diapers and wipes. I did this because she's like a sister to me and luckily at the time it was something I could afford. But I know she would have been just as happy if all I'd gotten her were a few small things. This bride demanding people by her expensive purses, clothes, floor tiles or check with her first before going off list for gifts is a true piece of entitled trash!

“We won’t spend your money in vain”
*proceeds to pay for a honeymoon with said money and demands more money*
    Sure, totally not in vain..

That last bride wants anything related to the car? I'd get her a $2 auto vent stick that makes your car smell nice!

How do the men put up with this behaviour? I'm with Charlotte on this - how the heck are we still single, when women like this are getting married? I'm absolutely mind-boggled.

Wow.... just wow... who cancels their wedding and says we're going on a honeymoon before the wedding with the money used for the wedding!? I'm currently dealing with some wedding drama and this makes me feel much better about my decisions... crazyness!
