The reason I do not like makeup is because too many women feel they cannot "catch" a guy if they don't wear it. They use the makeup to raise their self-esteem and that is heart breaking. There is too much importance put on women to wear it, as if they are not good enough without it.
And none of those women look like that after makeup, they are using programs to make them look way different, like changing their nose shape, narrowing their faces and more. Makeup cannot do all that alone.

The thing is, these transformations are "shocking" because it's not just makeup- it's the filters and airbrushing tools, on top of the products. They don't even have to be obvious filters. There's this girl at my job that shows up every-time at work with heavy full insta-glam makeup like these tik-tokers, but even her dolled up face doesn't look her dolled up face on tiktok and instagram.

    • Simone du Toit
      Simone du Toit Il y a 11 jours +1

Yes, some of these were very obviously filtered. It's probably more filter than make-up, really.

I agree. Also some seem to work really hard to make the "before" as bad as possible like Charlotte said. The non-fitting make-up on before putting on the beautiful versions (very white e. g.) and very strangely shaped eyebrows combined with very bad lightening and bad angles e. g. The effect of course is a lot more dramatic. So to me for many neither the before nor the after look realistic.

@Red headed Sojourner girl I don't know you and how you do your makeup or the condition of your skin etc, but the skin will always be skin, we're humans, constantly living, and our skin has marks, decoloration, maybe acne or pimples and over all of that, texture and pores, and the makeup just sit on it, so in real life you won't be smooth like a baby, go easy on yourself! But some tips I've learned by feeling like that and trying my best is first of all, skin care; the best you take care of your skin, the best condition it will be on and the best the makeup will look. Prep real good, not only before makeup but after and nightly, never skip cleaning and moisturising, and put sunblock every morning, also before makeup, even if you're not going out; it depends on your skin but you can look up on yt, I'd recommend going to a dermatologist. Oh and drink water, your body and your face will thank you for that, and it really does a big difference if you're hydrated on how you look 🖤 For makeup itself it depends on your skin type and choosing a nice foundation (nice is not the same as pricey, my fav is the L'Oréal Infallible), but a really nice trick is better apply soft/small layers and build it up from there than put a lot and end up looking like you're melting or all cakey. And my fav, for bronzer and blush, use first a cream/liquid bronzer and blush and then the powders; that's a general rule, never mix steps, but first all the liquid/creams and then when they're settled, put the powders (so it doesn't get muddy). And over all of that, practise, don't give up and be creative, sometimes it turns out good, sometimes bad but you have to keep going,, learning and improving; practice makes perfect so find little by little what's goes best for you and your style, and go hard on the confidence bc I haven't seen you but I know you're gorgeous 🖤 (sorry if my English is bad and sorry for the Bible I've written, not my first language and I'm a little bit intense 🥺)

    • Sam
      Sam Il y a 13 jours +8

not only that but the lighting they have for the videos/photos, the front camera and it's blurring effect (it can be a really nice camera but it doesn't compete with eyes), and so many more things that make everything online look smooth and flawless, and that's not achievable at real life on natural light

"It's artistry" Exactly that! I'm one of those women that cannot be bothered to learn to use makeup and therefore just don't wear any - but I deeply admire the commitment and creativity that people are willing to put into it. I often wish I had that level of talent, maybe see if I could be a butterfly too. Call it what you want but you can't deny you love to see it! Keep doing your thing, whatever it is - you're clearly killing it!

As someone who doesn't like wearing makeup, I feel like all these perfectly "painted" women rise the expectation of how a woman has to look to compete/to be considered pretty or attractive.
Don't get me wrong... I don't say that women shouldn't wear makeup and have fun with it. I just don't like the "side effect" on beauty standards.

    • E M
      E M Il y a 3 jours +1

I agree with this 100%. It's a hard line to tow because you want to support other women's talents and creativity. But at the same time, these expectations are just more pressure for women. I wear make-up - but not to this level. When the make-up comes off, I don't look like a completely different person. These women are talented but when you look like a completely different person, is it fair to say they are just highlighting their best features?

I think it’s the other people’s expectations of women looking a certain way that causes some women to want to “paint” themselves like you said. Men do not have the same experiences they don’t have the same expectation. Blame society for treating them better with makeup on than without

I like when they show with/without makeup or openly discuss editing done to their photos as it makes it easier for me to show and explain it to my 11 year old daughter who has hit that stage of questioning her beauty as she sees edited/makeup photos and thinks they look exactly how they appear in those without makeup or editing and she can “never look like them” when she is beautiful all the same.

I have to say, and believe me I never saw this coming in a million years. I went swimming the other day, I’d spent days worrying about being in a costume with no make up in public. When I got there I realised that I was worrying about nothing! I saw that everyone has ‘flaws’ and I felt great! I’d lost a bit of confidence lately after having another baby, but my body confidence went right up! I know I’m no super model but I had really been giving myself a hard time and being there made me realise how stupid I was being! Sure, I’d have preferred a face of make up that wouldn’t come off, but I honestly forgot all about it. I even saw a hot guy watching me and seemed to appear in each section I went to. Maybe coincidence but I’d prefer to think not. Anyway, the point is that women give themselves TOO MUCH STICK!!!!

@Mandy McNalis I gave up and went for dentures at 38 years old (44 now).. I was tired of the pain and pouring thousands upon thousands of dollars trying to put off what was going to happen.. I hate wearing them so very much, so I only wear them when i absolutely have too.. Thankfully i live in a very small town, so most of the town knew I didn’t have an issue with drugs, just ptsd and severe anxiety.. My husband has a flooring company and I have a little craft booth in town.. Just a few weeks ago, I just happened to be dressed up, hair & makeup on, dentures in (had a meeting about contracts), but I stopped by the craft supply store and I heard a guy that works there ask another employee who she was just talking too and she said “The only person I’ve talked to is tabby”.. then he come walking around the aisle and looked me up & down and said “oh, momma is out catfishing today!” Lol..
I love myself, my husband loves me, my family and friends do as well.. I don’t need to please anyone but me! The rest can think whatever they want, their opinions don’t affect my life! I’ve also gained 20lbs since I turned 40! I would love to blame it on hormones, but it was all me! Our oldest son was diagnosed with type one diabetes at the age of 9, he is 26 now, so we maintained a very healthy diet while he lives at home.. then I found sugar! Talk about something that is addictive!!! Sugar is the devil!!! But I have gotten better with it and starting my way back to being 20lbs lighter:).. We only have one life, make the best out of the hand you were dealt and enjoy every moment! We are all beautiful! The world would be boring if we were all exactly the same:)…

Women are just expected to be okay donating their entire body to society, and to make it worse we're then still expected to be as conventionally attractive as we can be, or face ridicule / shame. love that this woman seems she doesn't gaf, and is educating a lot of women about what can happen! and love that i'm learning about that in the comments so thank you :)

It's sad how it doesn't matter what people do, you will always be dissed for what you don't have. For man or woman, both of them don't have fair play. 🥺
Great video like always. Hope you're well Charlotte ☺️
Edit: Okay let me rephrase, it doesn't matter whether you are a man or woman, the gender doesn't matter. What matters is the pressure has gotten so much more severe for both genders, no one can be themselves online, offline, with or without people with the amount of stigma and public pressure growing in the community.
It's become surprising when someone is comfortable with what they look like without makeup, when dressed in swimwear, dressed in certain clothes, etc. It shouldn't be "oh that amazing that you can show yourself online", it should be a normal thing. The severity is what I'm trying to express in a bad way.

@spiffymouse If you think that men don't see make-up as deception then you don't know what you are talking about, also you say I'm way off on my idea of what's normal - are you kidding?.. you are looking at the 'Norm' here (and THAT is my point) and NOT 'normal' - they're 2 different thing, a "reasonable" amount of make up is accepted as the norm in society, but to change your whole look IS deception and NOT normal - honestly think about what I just said. How would you feel if your son brought home a woman who had 2 pounds of makeup on her, you as a woman know too well that this much make-up will not only hide the "imperfections" but a hell of a lot more! Would you think your son was being deceived??
My whole argument was and still is that make up in today's day and age is being over used to hide one's true looks to the point of deception, then these same women (jumping from a 3 or 4 to an 8 or 9 on the SMP) 'expect' they now deserve an 8+ guy! we see that all the time on social media platforms! and the video above. Below average women (who have little to bring to the table other than their bodies - and we all know how long that lasts) expecting the Chads of this world, all the while not giving the good honest and decent guys a second look, then years later after they hit the wall and Chads don't want them anymore they cry "where have all the good men gone" - where they've always been - in the 'friend zone'! Its a well known fact that 20% of the men (chads) get laid and 80% (good guys) get 'nada', and 90% of the women are only interested in the Chads. There's plenty of data to prove this to be the norm right now, you cannot argue me on that one!
As for your suggestion of me being an incel - you could not be more wrong, I've had a fruitful life, I've had dated over 300 women and 10% of them were my girlfriends or partners spanning from a couple of weeks to a couple of years (apart from a marriage which lasted 11 years). I have no skin in this fight, I'm 62, but I honestly feel so sorry for the poor young men who are overall decent hard working but just don't have the looks to show for it (but have plenty to bring to the table other than their 'Chad' looks) so the women pass them by without giving them a chance, but I'm even more sad and sorry for the women because they are the biggest losers here because more and more men are going their own way (as myself) and hanging around with their mates and enjoying life and just paying for s*x when they need it - no stress, hassle or nagging and especially not being court raped for their possessions when the wife declares she's 'not happy' and takes him to the cleaners and most importantly they (men) are not getting married and are losing interest in women altogether as they are opening their eyes and can see the game is rigged against them - from dating to having a stable marriage. Now women will need to work for a living for the rest of their lives (something that was foreign to many of them till of late) AND they will be lonely throughout their lives (cat ladies) all because women as a whole listened and got duped by the feminist movement. Now even the decent women who have done everything right are being kicked in the teeth by their 'sisters' and will not have a partner, marriage or kids!.. So SAD.. So SAD.

@Acr 931 If you think that all people rate each other, almost all women wear makeup, and the majority of men call it deception - you're wayyyyy off on your idea of what is normal. You honestly sound like an incel here.
Not knowing the exact percentage of male vs female makeup wearers, I did what I suggest you do and googled it. There's a lot of surveys out there with varying numbers, but they generally agree that male makeup usage is on the rise while female may be decreasing. But again, it really does not matter. People wear makeup because they like it. If you don't, you're better off without each other.

I've had full makeup on twice: first wedding 1988 (bless my MOH for her skills!), and a glamour photoshoot that I got talked into and paid for in the mid-90s. Other than those 2 occasions, my "makeup" has been limited to lip gloss and mascara...because I'm just inept and lazy. Now that I'm older, I wish I had learned a little bit but too late now

I don't know where you're from, but maybe you can search online and see if there are centres that offer the same service. It doesn't even hurt that much. The hair also makes a big difference! A lot of the "ugly" shots have purposely bad hairstyles, which are then completely different in the glamour shot.

    • krisdiane
      krisdiane Il y a 14 jours +1

@Susan Andrews I would argue that the contouring is altering "to an extent" and that most of the extreme change we see in this is the face altering filters. Shadows do trick the eye, and lights and angles can make an enormous difference, but making actual changes to the size of the eyes, chin, jaw, nose, and lips with a filter will make a profound difference to how the overall face looks. The sparkling people with no pores do not look so profoundly different without the filter.

    • Susan Andrews
      Susan Andrews Il y a 14 jours +1

@krisdiane probably, to an extent, but many use lots of contour to create shadows. And again the after shots are taken from a much more flattering angle than the befores, from eye level or higher and pointing down, which makes the eyes look bigger and chin pointier, which is the look many of them favour.

    • krisdiane
      krisdiane Il y a 15 jours +4

The afters also usually have heavy filters altering the very shape of their features.

    • Susan Andrews
      Susan Andrews Il y a 15 jours +11

All of the 'ugly' shots are shot from a deliberately unflattering angle, they're shooting up at the person from below so you can see double chins, the ring light isn't yet turned on etc....and when they are all made up the ring light is on and they are shooting from just above eye level down. Angles and lighting are everything.

    • Fun Size

Love every second of this video! It's so hilarious that men would feel catfished when women with and without makeup look like 2 different people. And they think liking girls who don't wear makeup will solve the issue. Not how it works. They find out they don't like 'no makeup'. Or they use that to find a naturally attractive girl that meets their standard (which may be less than a 1/5 of women in the whole world if I had to blindly guess) - it's so unrealistic. Women wouldn't be bothered by men looking like the best versions of themselves and we're more inclined to focus on the inside. We're bothered by men acting like two different people rather than looking like 2 different people.

Quite often if one of us met someone they thought could be a possible long term prospect we would invite them along on a weekend trip down a river or on a lake cruise. It gave an opportunity to see how they looked without makeup and after an uncomfortable night on the ground in a tiny tent. Not just appearance but temperament was honestly laid bare to both party's' benefit. We all saw each other at our worst early on. A great time saver.

It wasn't a disease that took her teeth, it was being pregnant, lol. Same thing happened to me. I had PERFECT teeth, but when I was pregnant, they just started to rot and fall out. Super scary. Insurance wouldn't pay for partials, so I got full dentures. Pregnancy can take a LOT out of you.

      My late mother got cancer.
      She had chemotherapy.
She kept all her hair, but her teeth fell out.

@The Steel Sky it happens to everyone that has to push. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. The docs and nurses do this everyday so they have seen it all. That's why it doesn't bother me as much.

@Dylana Davis See, my teeth are already bad(thanks genes) so literally my worst fear about pregnancy is the accidental pooping possibility haha.

I have no problem with all the different makeup looks, and I am all for making myself look as attractive as possible. These are some amazing transformations. But to be fair, it looks like all of them are also using filters. Nothing wrong with that -- just be up front about it. I'm sure just the makeup work is amazing, but the filters definitely take it to a new level.
