Hey ya'll! Today on my channel we are reacting to some people who celebrated a little too early! Enjoy :)
Hi, I'm Charlotte Dobre. I'm an actor, reactor, singer and sometimes (not really) comedian. On this channel I do reactions, commentary and occasionally I crack a joke or two. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. Come hang out, it's a good time.

Honestly, it probably WOULD have actually gone in though .. _if_ that other person in the background hadn't specifically tossed the second ball up just to knock it off the hoop.
(Then again, maybe it would've just gone off the other side instead .. and perhaps the other guy was actually trying to bump it in for her. Who knows.)

Years ago, I had a BiL who drove race cars. We went to a race of his, he was a lap ahead of everyone else. He ran out of gas halfway through the last lap, and everyone passed him twice as he was pushing his car towards the finish line. Another BiL was responsible for filling the gas tank, and didn’t fill it all the way. He lost a $10,000 purse (this was in the ‘70s, so that was a lot of money)

    • Cynthia Merritt
      Cynthia Merritt Il y a 28 jours +2

      @Darren Robinson
“Ned” had plenty of time to fuel the car up, he even lied about it when “Terry” asked him. He plain just didn’t feel like it, and figured there was enough to complete the race. It was a 100 lap race, and they’d been planning for it a long time.

    • Darren Robinson
      Darren Robinson Il y a 28 jours +2

It's possible that not filling up the tank was a deliberate strategy. Fuelling is the slowest part of a pit stop.
Unnecessary fuel adds weight to the car and takes precious time.
The pit manager SHOULD have done calculations before the car came into the pit to determine the minimum amount needed to finish.
Running out of fuel sometimes still happens to pro drivers today.

    • Cynthia Merritt
      Cynthia Merritt Il y a 28 jours +2

Well, everyone knew he was kind of dim to begin with, and he shouldn’t have been trusted to do his one important job correctly. The BiL who owned the car should’ve double-checked to make sure the tank was full. Still, it was kind of disheartening, and it gave my SiL the excuse she needed to divorce him so she could marry someone even worse. Every “next” husband of hers was a step down from the previous one

It may not be a case of "too early" but last summers womens olympic cycling had a pretty interesting case...
Right at the begin of the race 3 ladies took a chance and got way in front of the peleton. They managed to create a really big gap between them and the field. For most of the race these 3 were way ahead of eversybody. But when the team managers and racers in the field realized that they could actualy win if the field wouldn't catch them, the field started to go faster. The LAdies in the front tried their best, but 2 of the 3 ladies of the initial attack couldn't manage to stay in front and got caught by the field.
After that, a Racer from the netherlands (one of the major favorites for the win before the race) attacked and managed a little gap to the field. When she came across the finishing line, she celebrated "her victory". Remember that only 2 of the 3 initial leaders got caught? Exactely, the austrian mathematician Anna Kiesenhofer went over the finishing line way before the lady from the netherlands. So Anna raced the race of her life and won the gold medal, and the actual favorite was acting a little pissed of towards her. (and changed her story a little from "i thaught we caught everybody to i just celebrated silver")
Kiesenhofer is a real mathematician, she taught at a swiss university for years.

    • Anna Morimoto
      Anna Morimoto Il y a 28 jours +17

Hmm? Let's see if I understand correctly.
3 women had the lead in the Olympic bicycle race. 2 of the 3 women lost their initial lead. The remaining 1 woman(Anna Kiesenhofer), who happened to be a mathematician, kept her lead and won 1st place. A 4th woman from Netherlands, who was expected to do well before the race, sped up after seeing the lead the 3 women initially had, and came in 2nd place.
The 1st place mathematician had finished long before the 2nd place woman from the Netherlands did, so the 2nd place winner wrongfully assumed she had won 1st place, and "celebrated too early". Later on, she realized she finished 2nd and was too embarassed to admit she had assumed wrong and celebrated too early. Instead, she said that she had been celebrating coming in 2nd place and winning the silver medal.
      How did I do?

    • SCC
      SCC Il y a 28 jours +11

@Stephanie Boggs The racer from the Netherlands forgot that there was a third racer way up front that stayed up front and won. So the victory celebration turned out to be for second place.

@Jaiya Alexandra I see. It varies from culture to culture. It's very common to announce pregnancies at any stage here in America, but that doesn't go for everyone.

    • Jaiya Alexandra
      Jaiya Alexandra Il y a 26 jours

@Winnie the Pooh겨울 T I wasn't imposing anything on anyone honey . I was simply stating my opinion. It's sort of a cultural thing for me but also isn't. The body gets rid of defective pregnancies in the first trimester and so many people... I'm not an American but studies show that it's more common that side due to G. M. Os anyway I was simply stating my opinion. My pregnancy was great, it was a secret because I was in fifth year medschool but it was for the best.

    • Winnie the Pooh겨울 T
      Winnie the Pooh겨울 T Il y a 26 jours

@Jaiya Alexandra it's perfectly for people to announce it, not everyone loses a baby in the first trimester. I'm very sorry if you did, my mother did as well, so I understand the pain. But people can do what they want, it's their body and their baby. You're most likely to have a successful pregnancy than an unsuccessful one. So while that's your opinion, it's not really within your right to say what people shouldn't do with their bodies.

    • Jaiya Alexandra
      Jaiya Alexandra Il y a 26 jours

That soccer one near the beginning is bending my mind into a pretzel. It crossed the goal line and into the goal, unless my eyes are deceiving me, and even though he knocked it out before it hit the net, it should still be considered a goal, I thought. But obviously I’m wrong bc it was not a goal. I played soccer for 12 years, someone please explain this lol. Is it a professional soccer rule that they didn’t bother to implement for kids soccer/varsity high school soccer?

@N E Nah, the angle and low quality is cheating your eyes (i saw it wrong at first too). It hits the post and bounces back out. If it hit the net it wouldn't bounce back.

    • N E
      N E Il y a 27 jours

There is a gap between the post and the ball, so couldnt hit the post, it hit the net. I reckon it the ball bounced out far as the keeper hit the net. The players kicked the ball after the bounce as nothing happened. Goal for me, VAR check!

Thank you for asking! I came to the comments for the same reason. I’m wondering if I either was seeing things when I thought it crossed the goal line, or that they are playing by rules I don’t understand. Or if it was just a misunderstanding by the video montage creator/s, as we don’t have enough footage or sound to know if either was ruled a goal. Of course, if the first one did not count, due to a penalty, the second wouldn’t either, because the whistle would’ve been blown.
Edit: saw 1st response after posting: Good eye! I totally thought it hit the net and passed the line. But that makes sense hitting the post, as it did have quite a bounce! Optical illusion. Thanks for noticing!

As an American that New Year's 2020 one cuts deep. I spent New Year's Eve 2019 into 2020 at a 5-star castle in Ireland. We're talking the epitome of European fairytale holiday. Sipped Champagne on the courtyard of the castle, turrets in the background behind me watching fireworks over the lake in front of me. Handshakes and hugs all around! And then... had to quarantine after getting back to the United States just as everything started to change. The pictures and videos I'd taken just weeks prior were of an entirely different world! And I couldn't help but look back at us celebrating the start of 2020 and think, "We were clueless." Also, "Is it 2021 yet?" which has turned into "Is it 2030 yet?"

omg that cup stacking thing, my son was obsessed with that like about 7 years ago, so much that i had to take him to a competition once and i never understood what all the fuss was about 🤣 oh god these sports games remind me of his hockey days when i was pregnant with my last one, i very often had to get out of the arena during a game because it was too stressful i was sooooo into it, that year their team was the best and they won the series (pee wees), i dont think i ever screamed this loud but when i saw a kid from the other team cry my mom heart broke 💔 we dont think about it but there's a lot of pressure on these kids, my son had bad anxiety at one point, now hes 20 and hes fine ☺

I watch horse racing and occasionally you'll see a jockey stop riding too soon and lose a race and I've also seen where a jockey came around the turn and gunned his horse toward the line, but there was another lap to go, I think you can get fined and suspended for a while for doing things like that, at the very least, you get fired and lose the mount. Gotta keep your head in the game

My favorite memory of something like this happening was during our boys soccer game. It was a playoff game, (you have to do playoff games to go to state) and our boys were tied with the other team. It was like less than a minute left of the game and the other team scored, however the guy was offsides so the goal was called back. The other team didn’t realize this yet and one guy had taken his jersey off and was running around the field. That caused him to get a red card since he wasn’t fully clothed and our boys ended up beating them in pk’s lol

Whenever I grow interest in a guy, I always end up talking to my friends about it to get advice or just to get it off my chest cause I feel like I might explode and shit always hits the fan when I do.
I never mentioned my current interest in a guy until recently after I asked him to try and visit me over spring break while my family and I were camping (we go to different schools and I barely get to see him, and we bumped into each other at our county’s school choir festival). Then I started talking about him coming to visit me with my friends and he was never able to show up.

August of 2020 was awful. I got really sick, got covid tested, I was put in the hospital that night, day 2 in the hospital my Covid test came back negative. I was hospitalized for 9 days. Went to get Covid tested after I got out just to make sure…and of course it came back positive. My doctor was like oh my goodness she just can’t catch a break. I was in a medically induced coma for the first 4 days. Died once, and they got me back. They really wanted to put me in icu, but all the beds were full. 2020 was living hell.

Years back, I celebrated getting my first "yes" asking out a girl to a Valentines date. I really thought she was into me.
I celebrated before the officiating the relationship and some other guy won her over, I got friendzoned.
Don't get cocky and celebrate; celebrate after you've successfully royaly flushed the house, check mated, conquered the person or crossed the finish line. 2nd place is more determined to win and they're behind slipstreaming your success waiting for you to let your guard down before victory.
Also always assume that your rival is directly on your 6.

1:00 so apparently no-one in the comments knows how a football (soccer for my US friends) game works. As soon as that first goal was scored the referee takes the ball to the centre and the team that conceded kicks off again. That second goal? Totally irrelevant and would be instantly disallowed. As soon as that ball crossed the line it became out of play.

    • Fe
      Fe Il y a 25 jours

I also thought it hit the net, and was very confused about the clip. But after watching it again it's actually so hard to see from that angle if it hits the net or the post.

    • Enigma_Tim Gaming
      Enigma_Tim Gaming Il y a 28 jours

@A V unless you are talking about a different section of the video, I don't know what you mean. The ball very clearly crosses the line, hits the back of the net and then bounces back out, couldn't be more clearly a goal. There is no 'did it cross the line or not?' it hit the back of the net, the centre of the back of the net without hitting a post at all. The angle makes it vaguely look that way but there is a clear gap between the post and the billowing part of the net that got hit. The keeper hits the net at almost the same time but you see the net move where the ball hits it first.
