Hey guys! Today on my channel we are reacting to some entitled karens making my blood boil! Entitled people posts are some of my favorites to react to on this channel, and I wouldn't be able to do the entitled topic justice unless I jumped on the entitled Karen bandwagon. Enjoy :)
Hi, I'm Charlotte Dobre. I'm an actor, reactor, singer and sometimes (not really) comedian. On this channel I do reactions, commentary and occasionally I crack a joke or two. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. Come hang out, it's a good time.

I really felt for the guy with the service dog. I use a powerchair and one day at the supermarket, had a (very sweet) child - we'll call him Billy - come and ask me if he could "have a go" in my powerchair, because his Mum had said it was okay. I would normally hesitate to tell a child that their parent is an entitled a-hole, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. I thanked him for asking nicely, but that a wheelchair is not like a ride at the fair, and that I need it because my legs can't be relied upon to hold me up. Billy asked if that was the same for guide dogs, so I said yes, that guide dogs acted as a blind persons eyes, which is why you mustn't pet them when they're doing their job. Billy (who really was very sweet) said thank you for letting him know that, that he was sorry if it had bothered me, (I told he was doing fine), and he said he would tell his Mum, so that she knew not to do it too. I have to confess, hearing dear sweet Billy school his Mum from the other side of the store was.... EXTREMELY satisfying. 😏😇 10/10, would do it again.

Thank you so much for taking the time to educate a child who'd been given the wrong information by his parent. You just helped him take a giant step toward being a better citizen, and human. 👍

CHRIST the way these people use their kids to extort others is honestly gross as hell. It’s no one’s responsibility other than the parents to provide for stuff. If family member are willing to help that’s a whole other story. But to harass friends and coworkers is a whole new low

Some of these stories have reminded me for someone like myself who chose not have children (I adore kids by the way, just don't want to have kids) and how I got hammered (often rudely) by folks with kids of how "I should want/have kids" and lecture me on the topic. And yet in the same breath when life is difficult for them with their kiddos or spouses then I get the sarcastic, "oh life must be nice without kids for you hey? You have it pretty easy." And then start trying to fish around in the convo to see if I will watch their kids, or that they need help financially, or just do the "what else do you do with your life?...I mean you are single and without kids." And yet, those types of folks never understand: You made your choices, I made mine, and trying to make me feel bad will never work.

And I was thinking yesterday, "Wow, I wish I had spoken to all of these folks (you all) in this thread years ago when I got flack, you all would have been the best support I could have needed when people came at me about it." And seeing others go through it too makes me realize it wasn't just me, and that so many of us have had to deal with the judgment and confrontation (both not necessary, but people feel "entitled" to do so, Charlotte's videos definitely brings this to light a lot)

I once had a guy in my previous neighbourhood asking me if i would leave my dog (she's half yorkshire half pomeranian and ngl she's eyed a lot because she's really cute) for free to him "because my childreeeeeen wanted a dog and since they've seen yours they want him so much. You understand right? You would make two children happy."
I was speechless for a second, then i told him that SHE (my dog is not a male) in NO WAY would be separated from me and that he could cry me a river.
He tried to grab her to steal her, but my dog bit him, hard.
She's really aggressive towards jerks (and she doesn't even like children) and strangers in general, since she was abandoned and put in a shelter at almost 7 years old.
When he threatened to call the cops on me, i gladly picked up the phone to do it for him.
Too bad he ran away before they could even receive the infamous call.
I wish this was fake, people never cease to amaze me, for better or worse.

@Matthew Eubanks I've seen people sell stuff for as low as $1 or even $0.50 just to get rid of it but to make something off of it..ive even seen people list things for free as long as you pick it up from where list the pick up will be at and if you can't go to that location or need to meet them half way then they will even put in the listing that they will have to add on a charge for gas since they have to drive to you or meet you which I experienced when it was a really bad year and I had just became a single mom and all my youngest (4 at the time) wanted was a bike and I couldn't afford a brand new bike but saw a bike that was used but still good enough condition until i was able to save up and buy her a brand new bike 6 months later for her birthday and that also would fit her that still had the training wheels included for free but I wasn't going to be able to pick up the bike with out my daughter seeing plus it wouldn't fit in my car with having me plus 3 kids inside..so when I explained the situation the guy understood but had their own situation going on so he told me that if I paid him $12 for gas that he would bring it for me so I agreed because I had saved up $20 anyways to try and find her a used but good condition bike..so it actually worked out

@Margaux Jones while I've come to hate the term Hun, i do agree. Too often father's are allowed to wander off. Though i once had a tenant, when i was forced into being a landlord, who NEVER paid rent. Whenever I brought it up, we'd get to "Hey! We got kids here!" almost instantaneously. He couldn't be bothered to stop smoking pot nonstop and get a job to SUPPORT them, but they were a convenient crutch to bat away my cruelty at thinking that rent might be paid. Guys do it too. I finally got the house sold, and I will NEVER be a landlord again. I didn't want to do it that time, but circumstances required it.

The “cuddling can be negotiated” post reminded me of something (not someone, some “thing”. An ex thing)
There was a man that I’d lived with/shared rent/bought all the food/did all the housework/cleaned up after his dog that pooped and peed in the laundry room daily (unless I got to him in time to walk him), and also worked running his businesses’ office for him (for free), had a sexual relationship with/ had me believing I was his gf, contacted me after we’d both moved out of the house we were renting. (He’d moved in with his mom, and my daughter and I rented a room at a friend’s house.)
So, I got this text after my daughter and I managed to get ourselves a place. We’d been in touch a bit. I’d wanted him to come visit, see our place.
His text said that he’d come over, but that he expected sex and a massage, no talking or arguing. I would have the privilege of driving out to pick him up and do this for him, and feel lucky for it, apparently.
I’d heard from my daughter (that was still friends with his daughter, to whom I’d been like a second mom), that he had a new girlfriend. I told him that I’d heard this, and all he had to say was, “who told you that?”
A couple days later, his new gf msg’d me, telling me to stop trying to get with her bf. I had to laugh. I sent her a screenshot. She agreed that it sure sounded like him.
I said she could have him, and that if I could get those 6 years back, I’d rather take them in cash than time, cause he wasn’t worth the time of day.
Some guys are just creeps. And yeah, I let him treat me like that. I’m not proud of it. It took a while to wriggle out of the emotional attachment, and only then could I see his hideous clear-cut forest for the lack of trees.
I guess he thought he still had it like that. Creep.

@Christina M. I had a friend who rented a (large, entry from common area, but still) closet in Boston. And there's a guy in a housing group I'm in who's been trying to rent his living room for months now. You do see stuff like that in major cities, though it has to be reasonable as evidenced by the fact that no one's renting the aforementioned living room (he posts a long list of rules, which no one is going to sign up for). But a bathroom is way, way, way too far. Especially since it's the only one in the apartment.

@Christina M. She has a right to be sensitive about the subject. Imagine being asked for money only because you don't have kids...
I'm childfree by choice too, and the amount of time I was asked to justify my choice is astounding. Most people don't want to hear that you don't like kids. It's an absurd taboo. They look at you like you're some kind of monster.
I think the monsters are parents like the ones in this video. Those that bring children into this world then demand money from everyone they think they can exploit for the kids that they couldn't afford to raise in the first place. They should learn to say no to their little gremlins...

@Dustin Riley I specified "specially a service dog" because they not only family, they are workers for that family. They must be intuned to the special needs and be attentive and have specialized and personalized tasks, even emergency tasks. Service dogs are ever more irreplaceable because of these extra bonds. So I think that stealing them is ever more irresponsible and inconsiderate.

    • Monique Damphousse
      Monique Damphousse Il y a mois +1

Yeah, and it's just getting worse. Assistance and guide dogs should be trained that when you say a particular command they become threatening to the person who's trying to take them. If the person gets bitten, too bad for them.

    • Dustin Riley
      Dustin Riley Il y a mois +6

@Nélia Ferreira I agree with everything except the "especially a service dog" part. I'd say pretty much all dogs are family, but NON-service dogs are generally adopted specifically to be part of the family. A service dog is purchased because someone has a specific need that a service dog can help them with.

I'll 100% be there for them, but I'm not putting up with abuse. I'm not sure what keywords Charlotte is using on her filter, so I'll do my best: "Not my pen is. Not my problem." No, little brother who won't grow up, I'm not giving you money to repair the slashed convertible top. My housemate let me move into this place knowing that my rent would be her sole income outside of food stamps... without telling me. I'm a contractor who has been on a pretty lucrative job the last several months, meaning that I can afford to order food if I don't want to cook at the end of the day. Housemate has been not-so-subtly complaining about it, first trying to assert I was going to overflow our garbage (6+ months, not once has that ever happened), then that I wasn't pulling my financial weight on staples (I buy the things we both eat and/or replenish when I'm the one to finish it off), and finally, she waited until I was out of town at a convention to text the NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS (two of whom are my best friends, the reason I moved here, and are like family) to ask them to help her have an intervention about my 'food addiction'. They were livid and left immediately, telling her they wouldn't have that kind of conversation without me present.
She took this to mean that they were promising not to tell me she'd done that. Which of course they told me the instant I got home. Come to find out her real problem is that I order food (either a single meal, or something like a pizza that will be multiple meals for me) and then don't offer her any for free. Whenever I ask her if she wants to order when I do, she never says yes unless I say I'm paying for her.
Hell no bitch, you try to go to my family to say I have a food addiction, then backtrack to make it sound like concern, then reveal you're just jealous? Fuck that. (Note, she's 61 and I'm 41. We aren't kids)

This woman also is diagnosed with Morgellon's, which is a delusional disorder (according to medical doctors) where people believe they have infestations of tiny worms and/or demodex (eyelash mites). She is convinced that she has these bugs, has fired no fewer than 3 veterinarians in the last four months because they don't believe that her dog has them too (she's fine, I keep an eye on her). I used to think these stories were fake until i had a garage sale. I had lots of fabric I was selling. Everything was marked at $2-10/metre (incredibly cheap). A woman came up and bargained about everything. If it said $2, she said 50c etc. I let most of it go for $1-$2 a metre except for 3 lengths of fabric I bought for over $20 a metre because she only wanted to pay $2 a metre for it. She only spend $32 on the fabric and then I watched her pick up the 3 lengths of fabric that I refused to sell her and start walking away. I stopped her, reminding her she didn't buy those. She told me that it was her "commission" for buying so much from me! I was gobsmacked! I gave her back her money and I grabbed my bags of fabric back and threw her off my property, telling her she was lucky I didn't call the cops on her for theft. The freaking nerve of her!

Rented bathroom: so the tenant has to put up with all the smells that you leave behind in THEIR space? But you also say they must keep to the bathroom? So they have to take the mattress and stand outside the front door every time you want a bathroom break?
How many electrical sockets in the bathroom?
As that will be their living space, is there room for a wardrobe, television and a couple of easy chairs?
No mention is made of sharing the kitchen, so is the bathroom big enough to hold cooker, fridge, freezer, kettle, microwave, pot and pan storage, dining table and chairs?

@Linda Birdbike sorry, but I don't agree because then you price kids out of the market who just want to make a little money and even people with disabilities or elderly that don't have the ability to work a full time job at full capacity but they want to supplement their income. This is why kids with lemonade stands have been shut down in the past by police. If a little girl can't pay her friend enough so she can make their mortgage payment and pay all her family's bills, should her business be shut down, or what? What about high school students who may also want a job to make a little bit of money but they also need to spend some time in school and studying, but most live with their parents and don't need a "living" wage so much as extra spending money and the ability to save for their education or other expenses? Do you think they should be priced out of the market (because Taco Bell or wherever isn't likely going to give every part time employee enough to raise a family of three on if those people are only maybe a 20 hour work week)? Do you think places like that shouldn't be allowed to hire people part time unless the part time people are also making "living" wages? I think if that is the case, a lot of jobs will cease to exist because a lot of companies will do what is best for their bottom line and reduce the number of their employees while buying computers and kiosks to replace people who would otherwise cost them more in the long run. I think a lot of part time jobs will also disappear overnight. I don't think people having less job choice is better. This is why I think not all jobs should have a "living wage", in my opinion. I don't like the idea of people being priced out of the market and I think having people for those part time jobs too is valuable to our community, even if not everyone who works is working so they can support their entire family.
You say you previously worked three jobs. I am not trying to put you down because I get that sometimes it is hard, especially if you already have kids that need things. However, it also sounds like possibly you had three jobs where none of them paid well enough to keep you on full time, and maybe that is where you are a bit frustrated, right? I can certainly understand that. Instead of having 3 part time jobs with no benefits, do you think it maybe would be better to instead learn a trade that is in demand where you can work full time somewhere and collect benefits for yourself and your family at only one job? Even if it is hard, we sometimes have to make sacrifices for the future and that may mean earning and living on less for a while so one can spend time on such an education.
I would love to see you being able to find a full time job that makes you happy and allows you to take care of your family. I don't want you to have to work 3 jobs and feel exhausted all of the time. I just think it would be more beneficial to recognize that not all jobs are equal and some aren't meant to support adults with families. That doesn't mean they don't have a place in society or that those are the jobs that are right for you. I wish more young people were encouraged to learn a valuable trade before they started families because that would help them more and we need to stop encouraging people to feel entitled or think that there will always be someone there to somehow "take care of them" or that they deserve a living wage just because they show up to work somewhere for 20 hours a week. I just don’t think it sends the right message.

I don't want to start up a whole thing, but this is the sort of thing I don't really get or agree with about tipping (as an Australian). There's no room for people to be assholes like this if the full cost of service is the advertised, non-negotiable price. If a haircut is $20, I'm going to pay $20 - and not worry about having to tack on extra costs for taxes and tips. I've been seeing more companies locally asking for tips and I really don't want to see that become widespread here, it seems like a doorway to shortcutting minimum wage and cheating already struggling workers out of the money they need in order to get by.

The dumbest part is that the old lady didn't stop to think that the renter could deny her any access to her bathroom as they're paying to use it. It's now their residence so if she goes in without their express permission, then she's trespassing and they can have her arrested.

9:15 had a very similar situation in school. We had a "secret santa" and the maximum amount was I think 15. My mom and I went to an expensive gift shop and got a cute glass globe for exactly the maximum amount (15) and gave the present to the boy on last day of school before winter break. Fast forward to January 1st day back in school and my hometown teacher pulls me aside after class to tell me that the boy was crying when he got the gift because he had preciously seen the exact same globe in a random store that costed like an 8 and was upset because he got a "cheap" present. I tried to explain to the teacher that the present I bought was more than that but she made me buy a second gift to make up for it. Btw this was in preschool.
I think this is why even to this day I hate secret santa gift giving

    • Michelle Young
      Michelle Young Il y a mois +4

It's a spending LIMIT. Not, a spending MINIMUM.
Your parents should have told the teacher "We spent exactly $15 on that. and even if we didn't, even if we had bought it at the sale price at which he found it, we are allowed to spend less, because LIMIT does not mean MINIMUM, and you, as his pre-school teacher, are SUPPOSED to teaching your students about GOOD MANNERS, NOT enabling their entitlement.
What about poor students who can't afford to spend $15? Do you make them starve, because they have to take money from the food budget, just to MEET a LIMIT, rather than TEACHING THE STUDENTS WHAT WORDS MEAN and what MANNERS are?!
You're falling down on the job. I know, it's not your job to raise the children. That's on the parents. But you enabling the parents to spoil the children, even at the cost of HURTING another child is WRONG, and frankly, I'm considering reporting you to the school board.

As a German I always find these birthday months funny, since we have the superstition here that if you get congratulated or celebrate your birthday before the actual day it's bad luck.
(People do celebrate "into their birthdays", like you meet up for drinks or have a party, but you only congratulate and gift presents after midnight. When someone can't have a celebration on their actual birthday you always have it afterwards, usually the next weekend.)
So yeah, these entitled people are just inviting bad luck from a German pov 😂

When I was growing up we always had huge bathrooms. My dad converted a large bedrooms into bathrooms in 2 different houses. (Not at the same time, we moved right after he completed the first one.) When he finished the first bathroom, my parents threw a small dinner party IN the bathroom. 🤣 It was my parents, and 3 other couples, seated at 2 1970s card tables. The invitations were written in brown conte crayon, on heavy duty toilet paper. Mom floated asters in the toilet bowl, and made peonies (pronounced pee-oh-neez) centerpieces, with a combination of the 2 flowers decorating the rest of the room for the party. 🤣🤣🤣 Even the menu was made up of foods that suggested bathroom themed humor. A toddler potty was used as a soup tureen to serve squash soup. That sort of thing. It was a diner dress party aside from that. (nice suit and tie, cocktail dress) The particular friends they invited totally appreciated the humor. They're all gone now, but we laughed about that party the rest of their lives. 🤣🤣🤣

@Crazy Cat Queen the area I’m going to be working in is called Helltown. The area got its name because Cuyahoga Valley National Park used eminent domain to kick people off their land in order to restore that area of Boston Township to nature. I forget which president gave permission to the National Park Service to do so (I think it was either Gerald Ford or Jimmy Carter but at not certain it was either as the evacuations occurred after both presidencies). Naturally, this led to many conspiracy theories, myths, and urban legends. People don’t like the name “Helltown” because they say it taints the name of this area and it’s disrespectful to those who lost their land. I disagree because my family lived there during that time and had their land taken. They don’t complain when I call the area Helltown because we all know the stories are just stories.

1:41 Asking specifically for certain gifts ain't entitled though. I mean, in Dutch culture its fairly normal to give a list with gifts to pick from or request a specific item. Hell, if we are still given something else instead and we didn't like it, its not even entitled to ask for the receipt so you can buy the gift you wanted. That's our way of respecting someone's wishes on their birthday. We give gifts the person asked for. Whilst this post is English, the person behind it could still be a Dutch immigrant adhering to our culture's view on birthday gifts.
